Four Months in and how am I doing? Apart from the fact that we’re in May and I’m writing about April…I blame my recent Birthday. Anyway!
1) Get a new job or find a way of making current role more enjoyable.
Last month I admitted defeat on this one; at least for the time being. At the moment Lucy is stupidly busy with Uni and I have enough on my plate. I’ve still got 8 months to do this so it’s on the back burner and there just isn’t any point stressing myself out more at this time.
Interestingly my mood has significantly lightened as a result. I’m still a little tight for cash but we’ve had an easier period at work so things haven’t been quite so torturous.
2) Explore Japan with Lucy
We’ve been planning out plenty of fun places to go to in each destination that we are visiting. From Himeji Castle to Miyajima, check in to my monthly updates to see where we plan to go and what to do!
As for actual organisation I just need to pull my finger out and book those rail passes and airport transfers and we’re all but sorted.
3) Actually paint some miniatures.
I did a little this month but Zelda has been eating up my time like an absolute beast. It’s brilliant. Go buy it. But yeah I’m hoping to get some more work done this weekend and then be in a position to field the new force.
4) Sell some of the dead weight.
Success. I’ve sold a ton of Games Workshop stuff netting over £100 so far. I’ve still got a load more to sell but I’m starting to clear the hoard finally. Lucy and I had also a massive clear out of clothes and tat that has accumulated. Like 6 bags worth from around the house that went to charity of the tip.
Oh and we helped build a new kitchen. That was epic. Most importantly I got to throw most of the old kitchen in the tip – yes the fucking tip! Imagine throwing multiple kitchen cabinets into those giant metal containers – it was practically porn.
5) Look after myself a lot more.
Right now I feel pretty good. Appearance is better, general health is better. Getting enough exercise and just eating well. Obviously still drinking but hey, something was needed to get me through the current political situation.
6) Read more and challenge my own opinions.
Half way through This Book will Save you Life. It’s a fun little read but I’ll probably give some hard sci-fi a go again soon.
Challenging my opinions is still a struggle as finding people who understand how to argue without yelling in your face when you disagree seems hard. I did chat with my dad on my birthday and he made a derogatory comment about immigrants being everywhere in Exmouth (my home town). After letting him speak I asked if there had been any problems as a result of this apparent surge in immigrants which he conceded that there hadn’t been that he was aware of. I didn’t see the need to add ‘so what’s the problem then?’ to the rest of the conversation.
7) Finish the copy editing and proofreading course even if I’m not really enjoying it.
Crawling forwards very slowly and running out of time on this. Great combo.
8) Blog weekly.
A little better this month. At least until this blog which came out a week later than planned. But it’s been nice to have a spread of topics again in April. Have a couple of drafts ready to go as well so fingers crossed I’ll be up to speed in May.
That’s all for now! Enjoy the rest of spring fellow humans.
