The Mountain and The Wolf

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is a 2015 video game by British developer The Chinese Room. I spoke about it briefly before, in my post about Empty Places & The Post Apocalypse, and I wanted to take the opportunity to speak about it a little more here.


Firstly, the term ‘video game’ feels somewhat out of place when talking about Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture. There are no puzzles to solve, or things to shoot, or things to jump on. Instead, it unfolds as a sort of interactive narrative, which the player slowly moves through, the mysteries of the story being gradually revealed around them. At its best, it feels as if you are walking through a wonderfully scripted radio play.
